The Band

Stingray is an enthusiastic rock trio specialized in playing powerfull melodic and progressiv (hard)rock covers. The band also produced a series of classic groudbreaking songs which were released on their self-produced album Mental Prelude. Covers from Van Halen, Joe Satriani, Iron Maiden, David Lee Roth, Ozzy Osbourne and others perfectly blend together with their own material.

A compact rock trio, did most certainly not lead to reduction of a full sound. The crowd is often amazed how "full and large" the band sounds. A formation of three has its musical privileges: for every musician there is enough space for the individual musical capabilities, without compromises. When possible, the sound can be clean and transparent, but when necessary Stingray can go raw and loud as hell.

The first Demo consists of eight cover songs. These were recorded live in one take in their own studio, using a 8-track analog recorder. No overdubs were added (except for a couple of multi-vocal choruses). The sound is an honest representation of what the audience can expect live from Stingray.

Mental Prelude brings nine own fresh songs. To make it sound as optimal as possible and to push creative boundaries, the band decided to record additional guitar parts, multi-vocals and when necessary, surprising sound effects. A dedicated 32-track digital multitrack recorder was designed and developed exclusively to push technical boundaries for this recording session.

The spectacular live shows, filled with powerful melodic rock anthems and own songs, have become synonymous with their name. The songs most certainly hold their own in a live-situation, and that's something every visitor will be convinced of. In the past decade their concerts have become must-see events, and they continue to sell out arenas worldwide ;-)

More About us

Stingray

Harry Kruisselbrink
Bass, lead vocals and mouthharp

Born in 1954 he is (by far!) the oldest band member. Still going strong and an unbreakable addiction and passion for music, which is obvious when you see him on stage.

Beside the music he is an enthousiastic photographer of nature and a worldwide known collector and expert of old Ibanez guitars. At the summit of his collecting he had about 135 Ibanez guitars hanging about everywhere in his house. Harry is also the author of the 'Vintage Ibanez Identification Book', which was published in 2014. A book about those infamous Ibanez copy models from the 70s era.

Playing with Stingray he uses his favourite bassguitar, an old 1976 modified and beaten up Fender Precision which is plugged in in a very old-school 70s Peavy Standard amplifier which is connected to an old Kustom 2x15 inch speaker cabinet. For effects he only occasionaly uses a flanger and a phaser to slightly expand the sound when Eric is soloing.

Maykel Post
Drums, percussion, vocals

Maykel started playing drums at the age of 3 on chairs and tables. 2 years later he got his first real 'plastic' drumkit, but due to brutal bassdrum jumping by him and his brother, the kit only lasted for 24 hours. Already at an early age he was listening to bands like Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin and The Sweet. It marked a time when the 'double bassdrum generation' started and Animal of the Muppets was the reference of drumming.

Fascinated by all facets of music he started to practice and developed his own skills in drumming, recording, engineering and designing professional audio equipment.

Live and in the studio Maykel plays on everything (and everybody) what makes sound, but he loves to beat the hell out of his Pearl drums and Zildjian cymbals. The snare drum should be tuned as tight as possible to get that crispy bright and brutal sound, and he preferres wooden drumsticks as they should only last as long a 'take' takes.
